Keeper/Presenter with Special Responsibility for Presentations
 
You will take responsibility for the day to day care of the animal collection in your section, ensuring all animals maintain excellent physical and psychological health and live in a clean and visually appealing environment. 

You will present daily encounters - always with an emphasis on education and conservation - to ensure that all visitors to the zoo have an outstanding experience.


The Special Responsibility for Presentations will include:
Script writing
Developing the content of animal encounter programmes
Training Keepers in presenting skills
Liaising/assisting with Head Keeper and Education Coordinator on Presentations and Educational requirements

You will have exceptional presentation skills, be able to organise shows and encounters, write accurate, audience appropriate scripts and have experience in animal husbandry.

Flamingo Land zoological department is looking for a zookeeper to join our team.  Flamingo Land is one of the leading tourist attractions in the UK, attracting more than 1.4 million visitors each year.  The zoo currently has over 130 species across a range of different taxa.  We have an active education department, our own research institute (in collaboration with the University of York) and an award winning conservation project in Tanzania.  The zoo is also a member of BIAZA, EAZA and WAZA.

Zookeeper
The successful candidate will join a dynamic team working on a variety of different sections within the zoo, including Children’s Planet (small carnivores and reptiles), the bird section, the primate section and carnivores.  There will also be an opportunity to be trained on other animal sections within the zoo.  All of our zoo keepers are encouraged to participate in a range of activities which include research, environmental enrichment and education.  The successful candidate will have experience working in a zoological collection and have passed the Diploma in the Management of Zoo and Aquarium Animals (or equivalent).  Experience with any of the above mentioned species would be an advantage, but you will receive direct training in the husbandry of these species. The successful candidate will be expected to be very personable and able to communicate well with the visitors, including delivering public talks. The successful candidate will also be enthusiastic and a good team player.

Interviews will take place on the week beginning the 12th of January and may include a practical assessment.

This is a salaried, full time position that will involve weekend working and on call commitments.

About you

The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated individual who has gained previous in animal husbandry and life support systems either through advanced studies or experience in the relevant field.

You will need to have a keen attention to detail, be innovative, adaptable and able to cope well under pressure with good time management skills.

Good communication and organisational skills are essential as is flexibility and a willingness to travel. You must also be able to relocate to Weymouth and have a full driving license is desirable.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Animal Facilities Coordinator within the Concept & Development Animal Team, based in the Merlin Animal Welfare and Development Department in Weymouth.
This role will play a key part in the development of new exhibit concepts and the implementation of new projects across the global SEA LIFE group.
This role will be acutely involved from conception to acquisition, implementation and roll out of the new features and exhibits.
This is a salaried, full time position that will involve weekend working and on call commitments.


About you


The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated individual who has previous experience working in public aquariums and supervising the displays and displays team.
A high level of expertise in all aspects of animal husbandry and life support systems.
Proven experience and ability to design and implement world class exhibits and displays. 
You will need to have a strong attention to detail, be innovative, adaptable and flexible. You will need to cope well under pressure with excellent time management skills.
An ability to communicate well and develop relationships at all levels.
You must also be able to relocate to Weymouth and be willing to travel.
