Keeper/Presenter with Special Responsibility for Presentations
 
You will take responsibility for the day to day care of the animal collection in your section, ensuring all animals maintain excellent physical and psychological health and live in a clean and visually appealing environment. 

You will present daily encounters - always with an emphasis on education and conservation - to ensure that all visitors to the zoo have an outstanding experience.


The Special Responsibility for Presentations will include:
Script writing
Developing the content of animal encounter programmes
Training Keepers in presenting skills
Liaising/assisting with Head Keeper and Education Coordinator on Presentations and Educational requirements

You will have exceptional presentation skills, be able to organise shows and encounters, write accurate, audience appropriate scripts and have experience in animal husbandry.

Animal Keeper

Rare Species Conservation Centre has recently embarked on some significant new developments and expansion.
Therefore we are looking for driven, experienced and organised individuals to assist us in our expansion.
RSCC opened in 2006 and is a 8 acre facility specialising in lesser known species in an attractive, friendly and personal setting.
Specialising in Carnivores we are home to many such as Clouded Leopard, Malayan Tiger, Sun Bear, Palawan Bearcat and Fanaloka but many Interesting other non Carnivores like Tarsier, Echidna, Hornbills, Cassowary and many more.

Key Responsibilities
* Hands on position, preparation and distribution of diets, maintaining enclosure cleanliness, enrichment and observation.
* Engaging directly with visitors to the Centre, giving talks and escorting tours.
* Directly working with and supporting the Team Leader.
* Assisting with volunteer and work experience training.

Required Skills & Experience
* Minimum of 3 year's experience in a full time animal keeping role either in the UK or abroad.
* Must be able to demonstrate a good overall knowledge and interest in the key species that you will be working with.
* Must have exceptional standards of cleanliness.
* Must have excellent communication skills.
* Need to be physically fit.
* A Full UK Driving License or equivalent.
* A recognised animal management or keeping qualification would be advantageous.

Full time position, includes weekends and evenings on a rota system.
28 days paid holiday per annum, uniform provided and required.
Salary between £16,000 - £19,000 depending on experience.

Animal Keeper: Large Mammals

Twycross Zoo is currently going through an exciting period of change as the zoo develops and we are looking for dynamic, knowledgeable individuals to help lead the teams forward.

We currently have a vacancy for a Grade 1 Keeper on our Large Mammals section, which includes a range of ungulates and carnivores including zebra, nyala, tapir, Amur leopards, meerkats and giraffes which will arrive in 2015.    

At this level you will be able to work effectively without supervision and complete work to a competent and high standard.

Key Responsibilities
·       A hands-on role, working on the section and covering all areas of daily animal husbandry
·       Supporting and working closely with the Deputy Section Head
·       Assisting with staff training

Key Skills & Requirements
·       Minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience
·       Able to demonstrate good working knowledge of the natural history and management of key species within the section
·       A good team worker with a positive outlook
·       Excellent communication skills
·       Committed to continued professional development of yourself and other staff
·       An animal related qualification such as ANCMZA or DZMAA would be advantageous

This is a full time position, including weekend duties on a rota system.  Salary is paid monthly and we provide uniform, 31 days holiday, 5% employer’s pension contribution.
